चीन की कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी ने राष्ट्रपति शी जिनपिंग के लिए रिकॉर्ड तीसरे कार्यकाल पर मुहर लगाने के लिए एक बैठक शुरू कर दी है। कांग्रेस का यह सत्र पांच साल में एक बार होता है जो एक सप्ताह तक चलता है। चीन में पिछले तीन दशकों से यह परंपरा रही है कि शीर्ष नेता 10 साल बाद अपने पद से हट जाते हैं। हालांकि, इस बार इस रिवाज को तोड़ा जाना माना जा रहा है। बैठक में जिनपिंग को राष्ट्रपति के रूप में तीसरा कार्यकाल देने पर सहमति बनने की उम्मीद है।

The Communist Party of China has begun a meeting to seal a record third term for President Xi Jinping. This session of Congress is held once in five years which lasts for a week. It has been a tradition in China for the last three decades that top leaders step down after 10 years. However, this time this custom is believed to be broken. The meeting is expected to agree on giving Jinping a third term as president.

69 साल के राष्ट्रपति जिनपिंग को छोड़कर इस हफ्ते चीनी नेतृत्व में बड़ा फेरबदल होने जा रहा है। नंबर 2 माने जाने वाले ली केकियांग समेत सभी शीर्ष अधिकारियों को हटाया जा सकता है। चीन की कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी (सीपीसी) की 20वीं राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस में, 2,296 ‘निर्वाचित’ प्रतिनिधि बंद कमरे में बैठक में भाग लेंगे। 16 अक्टूबर से शुरू हुई बैठक 22 अक्टूबर तक चलेगी।

There is going to be a major reshuffle in the Chinese leadership this week, leaving 69-year-old President Jinping. All top officials, including Li Keqiang, who is considered number 2, can be removed. At the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), 2,296 ‘elected’ delegates will attend a closed-door meeting. The meeting, which began on October 16, will continue till October 22.

बीजिंग को बैठक से पहले लोगों के दुर्लभ विरोध का सामना करना पड़ा है, जिसमें शून्य-कोविड नीति के तहत शहरों में बार-बार तालाबंदी की आलोचना की गई है। लॉकडाउन लागू होने और सख्त कोरोना नियंत्रण उपायों के कारण अर्थव्यवस्था में मंदी और बेरोजगारी में वृद्धि हुई है। हालांकि, कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी ने अपनी ‘शून्य-कोविड’ नीति का बचाव किया है और इसका समर्थन करने से इनकार कर दिया है।

Beijing has faced rare protests from people ahead of the meeting, criticizing repeated lockdowns in cities under a zero-Covid policy. The implementation of the lockdown and strict corona control measures has led to a slowdown in the economy and an increase in unemployment. However, the Communist Party has defended its ‘zero-Covid’ policy and refused to support it.

इन उपायों को अत्यधिक किफायती बताते हुए पार्टी ने कहा कि कोरोना वायरस का अस्तित्व अभी भी एक वास्तविकता है। सीपीसी के प्रवक्ता सुन येली ने कहा कि चीन द्वारा कोविड-19 से निपटने के लिए उठाए गए कदमों ने देश हित में अच्छा काम किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि शून्य कोविड नीति विज्ञान आधारित नीति है। कोविड ने दुनिया की अर्थव्यवस्था को भारी नुकसान पहुंचाया है। वायरस अभी भी मौजूद है जो एक सच्चाई है।

CPC spokesman Sun Yeli said that the steps taken by China to deal with Kovid-19 have worked well in the interest of the country. He said that zero covid policy is a science based policy. Kovid has caused huge damage to the world economy. The virus still exists which is a fact.
