Unique Love Story: ब्रितानी सैनिक रेग पाय 1944 में पहली बार फ्रांस की ह्यूगेट से मिले थे. दोनों के बीच कुछ बातचीत नहीं हुई. अगले दिन रेग को ह्यूगेट की तस्वीर मिली और फिर दोनों कभी नहीं मिले. इस दौरान रेग ने 2015 से उनकी खोज शुरू की. अब 78 साल बाद दोनों फिर एक-दूसरे से मिले.

यह कहानी उस समय शुरू होती है जब पूरी दुनिया द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध की चपेट में थी। साल था 1944, फ्रांस में नॉरमैंडी बीच के पास ब्रिटिश सैनिक रेग पे अपनी यूनिट के साथ तैनात था। तभी एक वैन उनके पास रुकी। एक युवक ने रेग और उसके साथियों को पिलचर्ड (मछली) और मार्जरीन और लाल जाम के साथ एक रोटी भी दी। लेने के बाद जब रेग कुछ दूर चला तो उसने देखा कि सामने एक लड़की खड़ी है। वह मुझे घूर रही थी। मैंने उसे रोटी देने के लिए हाथ बढ़ाया। रेग को याद नहीं है कि लड़की ने रोटी ली या नहीं, लेकिन वह कहता है कि उसे याद है कि वह चर्च भाग रही थी। ये लड़की कोई और नहीं बल्कि वही हुगुएट थी। रेग कहते हैं कि अगली सुबह जब मैं पहली मुलाकात के बाद उसी जगह पहुंचा तो वहां सारा सामान बिखरा हुआ था. वहां मैंने एक लड़की की तस्वीर देखी। जब मैंने इसे उठाया, तो यह उसी ह्यूगेट का था जो एक दिन पहले मिला था। वह उसकी तस्वीर अपने बटुए में रखता है। उसके बाद उसने उसे कभी नहीं देखा।
The story begins at a time when the whole world was in the grip of World War II. The year was 1944, a British soldier was stationed with his unit at Reg Pe near Normandy Beach in France. Then a van stopped near them. A young man also gave Reg and his companions a piece of pilchard (fish) and a bun with margarine and red jam. After taking it, when Reg walked some distance, he saw a girl standing in front of him. She was staring at me. I extended my hand to give him bread. Reg doesn’t remember whether or not the girl took the bread, but he says he remembers her running to church. This girl was none other than the same Huguette. Reg says that the next morning when I reached the same place after the first meeting, all the stuff was scattered there. There I saw a picture of a girl. When I picked it up, it was the same Huguette that had been found the day before. He keeps her picture in his wallet. After that he never saw her again.

For the past 78 years, Reg has been dreaming of meeting Huguette once again. After the year 2015, Reg started trying to find Huguette with the help of his son. Finally, after 78 years, they found Huguette. When Reg met 78-year-old Huguette, he placed her blurred photograph in front of her. She was surprised to see the picture. Reg said, I’ve had it for the last 78 years. Remembering the first meeting, Reg brought pilgrims and bread with him. The bread was covered with jam. He offered it to Huguette, but Huguette refused to accept it this time as on the first meeting.

ह्यूगेट इस बात से प्रभावित थी कि रेग इतने वर्षों के बाद भी उसे ढूंढ़ता रहा, भले ही वह उससे केवल एक बार मिला था। इस मुलाकात की एक और खास बात ये थी कि दोनों को ट्रांसलेटर हायर करने थे। इस मुलाकात के बाद दोनों ने एक दूसरे को गले लगाया. ह्यूगेट हंसते हुए कहते हैं कि उन्हें अब शादी करनी होगी। रेग शादी के लिए तैयार हो जाता है।
Huguette was impressed that Reg kept looking for her after all these years, even though he had only met her once. Another special thing about this meeting was that both had to hire translators. After this meeting, both of them hugged each other. Huguette laughs and says that they will have to get married now. Reg prepares for the wedding.
